What epoxy flooring costs
Epoxy flooring costs €30 to €120 a m² in Ireland. A plain roller coat sits at the bottom; flake, metallic and heavy-duty systems sit higher.
| Job | Typical cost | What moves the price |
|---|---|---|
| Epoxy flooring, most jobs | €30 to €120 a m² | The system, the state of the slab, the finish and the size of the floor. |
| Roller coat, solid colour (two coats) | €30 to €50 a m² | A thinner coating on a sound slab. Fine for a home garage or a store room. |
| Full system: grind, primer, body coat, top coat | €50 to €120 a m² | Thicker build, diamond-ground prep, repairs and a hard-wearing top coat. |
| Flake or metallic finish | €60 to €100 a m² | The decorative layer and the clear coats over it. |
| Industrial, heavy-duty systems | €50 to €100 a m² | Forklifts, chemicals, line marking and how much of the site stays open. |
| Anti-slip finishes | €20 to €120 a m² | From a grit in the top coat to a trowelled, textured system. |
| The labour on its own | €20 to €50 a m² | Grinding, repairs and laying. Part of every price above. |
| DIY, two-pack floor paint, materials only | about €7 to €8 a m², ex VAT | One 5 L tin covers about 15 m² in two coats. Prep tools on top. |

Your floor area × our guide rate
€2,160 to €3,600
36 m² at €60 to €100 a m², our guide for this finish. Our multiplication, not a quote. Small floors often cost more a m²: the grinder, the set-up and the travel are the same.
- The prep decides the price: a sound, bare slab costs least. Old paint, oil, cracks and damp add to it.
- Ask for VAT to be stated on every written price.
How this is worked out
The floor area you pick, times our price guide for the finish: €30 to €50 a m² for a roller coat, €50 to €120 a m² for a full system, €60 to €100 a m² for flake or metallic, €50 to €100 a m² for heavy-duty industrial. The multiplication is ours. Grinding, repairs, damp, steps, edges, coving, access and travel all move the price. It's an estimate, never a quote.
What we cover
Epoxy, polyurethane or polyaspartic
| Resin | What it's good at | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Epoxy | Hard, strong bond to concrete, chemical resistant | The base of most floors: garages, units, shops |
| Polyurethane (PU) | Flexible, takes UV, heat and steam better | Top coats, kitchens, cold stores, sunny rooms |
| Polyaspartic | Walk on it in hours, UV stable | Fast jobs, top coats over flake |
Most good floors combine them: an epoxy base for the bond, a PU or polyaspartic top coat where sunlight or heat would yellow or soften epoxy. The full comparison: resin flooring types · epoxy vs polished concrete.

Questions people ask
How much does epoxy flooring cost in Ireland?
€30 to €120 a m² for most jobs. A roller coat in one colour is €30 to €50 a m²; a full system with diamond-ground prep is €50 to €120 a m²; flake and metallic floors are €60 to €100 a m². See our price guide.
Can epoxy go on any concrete floor?
On sound, dry concrete, yes. It won't hold on a slab that's damp, dusty, oily or painted unless that's dealt with first, which is why the grinding and the moisture test matter more than the resin. A new slab needs time to dry out before it's coated.
How long before I can use the floor?
At 20°C, about a day before you can walk on it, about 4 days for light use and about 7 days to a full cure. In a cold garage it's slower. See cure times.
How long does an epoxy floor last?
Laid on a well-prepared slab, 10 to 20 years. The top coat in busy areas wears first, and it can be sanded and recoated without starting again.
Is an epoxy floor slippery?
A smooth gloss coat can be slippery when wet. An anti-slip grit in the top coat fixes that. See anti-slip flooring.
Epoxy, polyurethane or polyaspartic?
Epoxy is the hard, well-bonded base most floors start with. Polyurethane takes heat, steam and UV better; polyaspartic cures in hours. Many good floors use two of them. See resin flooring.
Can I do it myself?
A home garage, yes, if you grind the slab properly and the concrete is dry. Paint-shop kits cost about €7 to €8 a m² for two coats, ex VAT. See garage floors, done for you or DIY.
